Vinson Litigation Finance is led by Dr. Donald E. Vinson (LinkedIn). Dr. Vinson is widely considered the “founding father” of the trial consulting industry and is internationally recognized as the world’s leading expert in the field. Dr. Vinson has spent the last 40 years providing valuable insights and strategic recommendations to trial attorneys about juror behavior, and his record of success is unparalleled. He has consulted on hundreds of civil and criminal trials, including Pennzoil v. Texaco, USFL v. NFL, the Oklahoma City Bombing Case, the DuPont Plaza Hotel and MGM Grand Hotel Fires, Dalkon Shield Litigation, the O.J. Simpson Murder Trial, and the World Trade Center Insurance Case.
The management team he has put in place has many years of experience providing trial strategy, jury selection and consulting advice in hundreds of cases in both State and Federal Courts throughout the United States and in foreign venues. And the risk analysis tools VLF utilizes are an extension of the social science models and analytical procedures that we have developed for successfully assessing litigation-related matters.

Justin S. Estrera, CPA
– Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Estrera is the Chief Financial Officer of Vinson Litigation Finance. He is responsible for the firm’s finance, treasury, technology and corporate development functions. Mr. Estrera joined Vinson Litigation Finance in 2015.
Before joining Vinson Litigation Finance, Mr. Estrera worked as a Senior Manager in the assurance function of Ernst & Young’s financial services practice in Los Angeles and in San Francisco, where he provided audit and attest services to a variety of investment companies and advisers, including publicly traded business development companies, private equity funds, and hedge funds. Between his tenures at Ernst & Young, Mr. Estrera also served as a Vice President, Finance / Corporate Accounting at a large hedge fund in Connecticut.
Mr. Estrera holds a B.A. in Business Economics, with honors, and a Minor in Accounting from the University of California, Los Angeles. He is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in California and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CalCPA).
Katherine V. Vinson, Ph.D.
– Vice President, Litigation Sciences
Dr. Katherine (“Katie”) Vinson is a Social Psychologist with a specialty in Juror Behavior and Decision Making. Her expertise is based on quantitative measures of juror attitudes, experiences, and behaviors to predict verdicts and damage awards. This work involves sophisticated mathematical and statistical analysis to develop jury prediction models which have been successfully employed in major commercial cases.
From 2000 to 2010, Katie was employed as Director of Research Analysis at Vinson & Company where she has gained experience in major commercial litigation. These cases have included the Lucent Technologies securities litigation, contract matters involving CSX, DIRECTV, and Quest. She also conducted research in patent and intellectual property matters for Monsanto and DuPont, and she assisted the government in the prosecution of Lynn Davis (New Orleans Police Corruption) and members of the Symbionese Liberation Army (kidnappers of Patty Hearst).
Prior to her litigation experience, she was Assistant California Political Director for the Forbes 2000 Presidential Campaign.
She holds a B.B.A. in Business Administration from Southern Methodist University and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Psychology from Claremont Graduate University.

Mr. Doumani has specialized in dispute resolution and litigation management for over 30 years while acting as a State Court Receiver and an independent consultant. As a State Court Receiver in over 40 cases, Mr. Doumani worked in highly contentious situations as a receiver in divorce cases, family disputes, and partnership dissolutions in addition to cases involving most types of real estate and numerous operating companies. As an independent consultant, Mr. Doumani has extensive experience in litigation management involving areas of lender/borrower, commercial landlord/tenant, contractor/construction, contracts and partnership disputes.
Mr. Doumani, as a Receiver, has operated companies as diverse as hotels, manufacturers & construction companies, and a golf course and country club.
Previously, Mr. Doumani was a partner at a property management company that specialized in distressed properties and the renovation of older commercial buildings.
Mr. Doumani received his B.S. in Business Administration from University of California, Berkley and a Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles.
Benjamin D. Kingston, Esq.
– Director of Legal Services
Mr. Benjamin (“Ben”) Kingston is an experienced litigation attorney in both the consumer and commercial law sectors. He is admitted to the state bars of California and his home state of Nebraska, as well as to the United States District, for the District of California.
As the Director of Legal Services at Vinson Litigation Finance (VLF), Ben manages the underwriting of commercial claims being considered for funding, and monitors funded lawsuits through their resolution. He also works with VLF’s clients and their handling attorneys to structure funding arrangements that align interests by rewarding efficiency and efficacy during litigation.
Ben received B.A. degrees from the University of Nebraska in political science and philosophy. He then attended Pepperdine School of law where he received his Juris Doctorate in 2003. Ben is an active member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, American Bar Association and the Association of Corporate Counsel. He was also named a Southern California Rising Star by Super Lawyers Magazine in 2009 and 2012.
Ben is also a co-founder and director of Netting Nations, a 501c3 nonprofit formed in 2006 to combat the global epidemic of malaria.
